“Adolescent Turmoil: Expected vs Pathological”
Adolescence is characterized by personality evolution that helps the child master skills necessary for successful transition to adult life. Expected changes can be profound so it is important to differentiate normal vs pathological behaviors in order to identify the potential onset of psychiatric conditions. Educators can play a very important role in pathological traits because early referral for treatment results in better outcomes. During this lecture, Dr. Kaplan will explain what behaviors resulting from expected neurohormonal are considered normal/adaptive and how to differentiate these from maladaptive/pathological conditions that can predict psychiatric complications.
Dr. Gabriel Kaplan, MD, is a Diplomate in Child Psychiatry and Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry, Rutger NJ Medical School.
Lunch will be provided.
